About the Company
ISIA S.p.A was founded and started its operation in 1999 as an engineering company. In 2005, in association with a leading chemical manufacturer, ISIA SpA developed an innovative technology to generate Chlorine Dioxide in a “water submerged reaction chamber” that greatly improved the Safety and the yield of the reaction.
ISIA offers a complete range of chlorine dioxide(Cl02) systems for disinfection of drinking and process water in large-scale applications. Using patented, underwater in-line reactors, our disinfection technology is the safest and most efficient way to generate chlorine dioxide to improve water quality while preventing the formation of disinfection by-products that are harmful to health.
U and L-Type CL2 Generating System
U-type reactor is installed in line for injection into pressurised pipes. L-type reactor is submerged in a water basin or open channel and the reaction chamber sits below the water level.
Cooling Water Treatment Application
Complex fouling deposits are a significant concern for the efficiency of cooling water systems, heat exchangers and pipes in general. The use of chlorine dioxide, thus, allows the plant to very effectively prevent growth and the plant can be compliant with all environmental permit conditions.

Chlorine Dioxide System
Our chlorine dioxide systems produce the purest solution that ensures high performance in disinfection. Unique features include an underwater reactor chamber for increased safety and efficiency; compliance with the strictest safety standards; and the highest yield and the option to dose by shots, which can drastically reduce operating expenditure.
Why Chlorine Dioxide
Chlorine dioxide is an innovative and proven method for treating drinking and process water. Unlike traditional chlorine or sodium hypochlorite disinfection, chlorine dioxide is a more effective biocide, does not produce unhealthy by-products, and uses smaller quantities of chemicals – saving you money on operation.
Paper Mills Application
In the context of the paper-making industry, chlorine dioxide is used for water treatment at paper mills and for pulp bleaching. Water plays an essential role in the paper manufacturing process: it permits the fibres to be transported from the apparatus which de-fibres the wood-pulp down to the manufacturing wire of the sheet of paper.
Desalination Process Application
Desalination is a process that removes dissolved minerals (including but not limited to salt) from seawater, brackish water, or treated wastewater. In this context, chlorine dioxide, a powerful disinfectant and oxidant very well-known and utilized worldwide since 1960, can result decisive to overcome many a problem arising from seawater desalination for human purposes.
Potable Water Treatment Application
Chlorine dioxide may be used in the treatment of drinking water either as a disinfectant or as an oxidan. As a disinfectant, it can be used in the pre-oxidation phase as well as in the post-disinfection phase. In the purification treatment of surface water, pre-oxidation is used to control the growth of bacteria and algae during the subsequent phases of the treatment.
Waste Water Application
In the disinfection of waste waters, chlorine dioxide has many advantages over chlorine. In the case of chlorine dioxide, in fact, the presence of considerable quantities of ammonia and organic substances in waste waters induces a consumption of disinfectant with formation of chloramines which have a bactericidal effect up to 80 times lower than that of free chlorine.
